What is SportStream?
SportStream is a social sports application that provides you a way to connect with friends, fellow fans and a wealth of content around live games. Available as a free download for the iPad, iPhone (coming soon!) or easily accessible on the Web, SportStream allows you to follow live games, chat with friends and other fans watching the action, post to Facebook and Twitter, and keep up to date with all the current stats and scores. We filter Twitter for you continually during each game across sports – bringing you only the best, most pertinent tweets from writers, reporters, bloggers and athletes specific to your games. 

How much does SportStream cost?
Absolutely nothing! Download our our iPad app from the app store or simply open the Web application by clicking here.  

How can I register?
Log in using either your Facebook or Twitter accounts to easily connect with friends and your favorite teams. Using Facebook and Twitter as our log in systems make friend and team discovery, and sharing with you friends much easier for users. We use your information only to power these features and will never share your information with anyone or post to those services without your permission.

How Does SportStream work with my Facebook Timeline?
SportStream does not post to Facebook without your permission. We focus on providing you a means to explicitly make posts from the app to Facebook and Twitter. If you want to automatically share the games you are following with friends, you can go into Settings and turn on the Automatic Facebook Sharing setting. These posts will mostly appear in your friends’ Tickers on Facebook.

Features

How do I choose my favorite teams?
The first time you log into the app, we will offer you a chance to add favorite teams. Simply tap on the logo of your favorite teams, and they will be added to “My Favorites.”

If at any time you would like to edit your favorite teams list, just go to the Settings menu, which is located in the upper left hand corner of the app.

To remove teams, simply tap and hold the logo in the “My Favorites” section. A red minus sign will appear in the corner of the logo, tap the logo again to remove the team.

How do I follow games?
Your favorite teams’ games will automatically be added to your My Games panel, which will show up in the column on the left-hand side of app. If there is a big game that you want to follow on any particular day, just tap the green button that says, “Follow” to add that game to My Games. If you would like to remove a game, just tap the button that says, “Remove”.

What is the hot game alerts feature?
You may notice from time to time, games will start to “heat up” and display words like “HOT” or “EPIC” next to them. This is our way of letting you know that there is some really good action going on in that particular game (such as overtime, potential no hitters, etc.). We don’t you to miss any of the action, so we have built in technology that monitors every game on every channel, and lets you know if you are missing an instant classic. 

What does it mean to follow a game?
Any time you hit the “Follow” button for a certain game, it adds it to My Games. This also lets other users see which games you are following, and allows you to chat, invite friends and post to Facebook or Twitter.

How does Chat work?
Every game in SportStream offers a chat room. Once you follow a game you can join the chat by tapping on the white bubble in the lower right hand side of the app labeled “Game Chat.” To add a message, just tap the in the bubble and a keyboard will pop up, allowing you to talk trash and connect with fellow fans.

We plan to add more chat room functionality as we grow, so stay tuned!

How do I block another user?
If another user is bothering you, all you need to do is tap on their avatar in the chat field, this will prompt you the opportunity to hide all of that user’s posts from your chat timeline.

How do I post to Facebook & Twitter?
On the lower right of any game screen, there is a ‘POST’ tab where you can compose an update and post directly to Twitter and/or Facebook. We even give you suggested hashtags for every game – just tap to add them to your post!

How do I invite my friends?
Next to the Post option on the lower right of any game screen, there is an ‘INVITE’ tab. You can invite friends to the app or game via Facebook, Twitter or email.

Settings

How do I change push notification settings?
From the SportStream menu, select settings and then notifications. From here you can turn off push notifications or change the settings for notifications by your favorite teams.
